16 Appliances

This piece was a direct response to the contents of the Working Title junk pile: lots of defunct appliances with leads of various lengths. Because there were many strands, rather than one continuous thread, I used macramé instead of knitting to manipulate the leads into a decorative structure. The pattern was dictated, to some extent, by the varying lengths of my 'threads'.

It explores a theme addressed in the Knitted Engine, of juxtaposing 'masculine' hi-tech stuff with 'feminine' decorative craft.
